With a huge library of hundreds of thousands of songs available digitally over broadband and about 3,000 stored on the machine's hard drive, listeners can always find a song they want to hear. In addition to the expanded library, most accept credit cards. And for those willing to pay up, a "make mine first" feature on Ecast, moves your selection to the top of the play list. When new albums are released people can check them out on the jukebox in a place that's fun to hang out, instead of going to their local record store.

The devices are also capable of displaying interactive advertising, and have been used by record labels for such promotions as pre-release distribution of new singles.

They typically earn up to twice as much as a traditional CD jukebox because they provide a much better selection of music.

The commission split to the location is essentially the same as any other device except a small % from the gross revenue goes to pay the music provider. An internet line is necessary to run the box, and can be shared with an existing connection or wifi.
